The Federal Marriage Amendment -- Too Little, Too Late???

The Federal Marriage Amendment --
Too Little, Too Late???

Hello there! Theo, cdh's Administrative Assistant, here to brief you a bit about what is to follow -- you may be inclined to believe that cdh is not really supportive of the FMA by what is written below -- but that is not true -- he does support it, and has contacted the senators who represent PA and urged them to vote in favor of the amendment. The point he is trying to make is that if we are going to stress family values, traditional marriage, and basic Christian morality as revealed by Almighty God, then we need to immediately address what is possibly the greatest abomination of which this republic has ever been guilty -- a practice which destroys all those "values" which we claim must be preserved -- the unrestricted destruction of at least 100,000 or more unborn children per month -- each of whom God personally identifies and for whom He has a planned purpose! Think about it, if you dare!

For some time it has been a prominent news item -- the effort to start the process of amending the Constitution of the United States in order to ban same-sex marriages and at the same time affirming that legitimate marriage is a covenant union involving one male and one female only.

The battle continues to rage over the issue and has become more intense since there have been situations in which marriage licenses have been issued to same-sex couples in certain areas of the country. At the time this is being written the state of Massachusetts is issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The majority of mass media people continue to present same-gender coupling in a very favorable light via print, radio, and television under a wide variety of scenarios -- entertainment programming, news reporting, documentaries, etc.

What we are witnessing is a high profile campaign by both the pros and the cons regarding the proposed marriage amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Now then -- at the high risk of taking flak on this issue -- a question -- is the proposed amendment really going to be too little, too late? That is, in an effort to maintain what some advocate as a high standard of morality and family values, will the amendment really lift us to a higher level?

The sodomite/lesbian juggernaut continues to roll with a steady decline in resistance! These people are pushing an agenda which amounts to nothing less than universal, unquestioned acceptance of their lifestyle both outside and inside the church. And if they get their way, it will even be a criminal offense to speak against sodomy and lesbianism as being morally wrong or teach our children of that reality! They continue to receive growing sympathy and support. An example -- at the Spring 2004 meeting in Pittsburgh PA of the General Conference of the United Methodist Church the official proceedings were interrupted by a demonstration involving sodomites and lesbians and their sympathizers. The disruption was illegal but not challenged -- it was reported that a number of delegates and bishops showed support by clapping and joining in the singing that was going on at the time! Years ago such an abomination would not have taken place in the scheduled sessions of the United Methodist Church General Conference.

So here's what's up -- the Marriage Amendment must have the support of at least 2/3 of both houses of the U.S. Congress in order to be submitted to the states for ratification. If it makes it that far, then 38 states must ratify the amendment by a pre-set date in order for it to become a part of the Constitution and thereby become the law of the land.

The infamous Equal Rights Amendment was proposed in 1972 by Congress and a 7 year deadline was set for ratification by 3/4 of the states. When the required number failed to ratify it by the deadline, the politicians arranged to extend the deadline to June 30, 1982 -- can't you just see a circus going on in that situation? But the required number of states still failed to ratify the ERA by June 30, 1982 and so it died -- don't know if anyone gave it the last rites or not!

So -- if Congress does meet the 2/3 vote requirement to propose the Marriage Amendment, how long will the states have to ratify it? Likely Congress will again set a 7 year deadline. Can you even begin to visualize the battles which will take place in the legislatures on this? And all the while the sodomite/lesbian connection continues to chip away and in the process gains more sympathy and support!

Do we really have that much time to get the Marriage Amendment ratified -- if it gets ratified?

A reason why the question is asked -- as serious as the moral issue of marriage and what makes up a legitimate marriage may be, there is a far greater moral issue at stake which hasn't really been seriously addressed by a majority of elected officials -- at best there has been lip service paid, and some very minimal legislation passed which in many cases has been blocked by judges who forget to put their brains into their heads in the mornings before leaving for the courthouse!

The issue is the unrestricted mutilation and murders of unborn children which has been going on for over 31 years at this point in time! Look slowly at an example of something that goes on every week day and in some places, even on Saturdays -- because of the kind of people who are involved in this violent occupation, maybe they use Sundays too -- after all it doesn't make much sense to go through the pretense of "worshipping" God on Sunday when you are involved in the destruction of those whom He knows and identifies before conception in the womb and for whom He has a high and noble purpose after they are born!

Suppose we do get the Marriage Amendment before the states, and suppose the required number do ratify it before the deadline -- do you want to be the one who says to God Almighty,

"Well, Lord, we cut them off at the pass -- the sodomites and the lesbians are forbidden by law to marry in the good old U.S. of A. We held the line on morality -- now aren't you proud of us? And, oh yes, about those millions of unborn babies that we have destroyed over the years -- sometime we're going to deal with that -- just you wait and see!"

Want to venture what God's response will be? Uh, by the way -- do you ever use the word, "judgment," in your vocabulary?

A Significant Selah Moment!

O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? even cry out to You, "Violence!" And You will not save. Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; there is strife, and contention arises. Therefore the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore perverse judgment proceeds.
Habakkuk 1:2-2 (NKJV)

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness....

It is time for You to act, O LORD, for they have regarded Your law as void. Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold! Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way.

Romans 1:18; Psalm 119:126-128 NKJV
