The one thing Barack Obama has clearly established is the fact that he is a very skillful and effective speaker, having a way with words that impresses even his opponents on what is known as the "other side of the aisle!"
He once again demonstrated this amazing quality in his first State of the Union address to a joint session of the U. S. Congress on February 24, 2009.
Much has been made about the issue of wishing the president well and that he will be successful as he endeavors to lead the naton on the road to future prosperity and peace for all its citizens.
But that simply will not happen under present conditions, with the main one being the issue of children. In the address Obama indicated great concern for the education of our children and youth. As he proceeded with this subject he made reference to his own children and how parents should be doing things with their children, including reading to them.
But his dismal failure is seen in the fact that there is no clear emphasis on the absolute necessity of making sure that children are educated in the system of values as revealed in God's special revelation to us and that this revelation is brought into crystal clear focus in the Person of God's Son, Jesus Christ.
Less than half the population of this nation is found in a place of worship on Sunday morning each week. The president himself and his family give no indication at this point of wanting to set an example in attending public worship and in so doing, encourage parents to engage in a teaching experience that has eternal ramifications.
Further, we are raising millions of children who have no exposure whatsoever to being informed about Who God is, what He has done, what His plans for the future are, and how He has a special purpose for each of us due to His identification and knowledge of us before we were conceived in our mothers' wombs!
Consequently we have a generation of young which has no Biblically based value system and has acquired for itself a value system that consists of the deadly ingredients of lust, instant gratification, greed, selfishness, pride and hedonism! The proof of this is seen in daily news reports from all over the country.
There are some exceptions but those are a small minority who are fortunate to have parents who still believe the Bible to be true, Jesus Christ to be God revealed in human form, and that He is to be honored and served as Savior and Lord on a 24/7 basis!
President Osama’s greatest failure regarding children, however, is seen in his view of the unborn. His is the most aggressive pro-death administration in the history of the United States. He has already signed the order which will give financial support to "family planning" groups in other nations that perform abortions and provide counseling which will encourage females to take the abortion route as the means of resolving a problem pregnancy.
He was a co-sponsor of the Freedom of Choice Act while a member of the Senate. This legislation will virtually remove what few restrictions some states now have in place to protect at least some unborn children from being mutilated and murdered before they are born.
No -- nobody needs to wish or desire to see President Obama fail in his leadership, although there likely are those who harbor such feelings and desires. In reality, he has by very faulty attitudes and decisions actually guaranteed failure for his administration with a very high price yet to be paid in the process! God's law of sowing and reaping has never been rescinded and applies to ALL individuals and nations -- yes, even to presidents!
The only way to achieve success is by a critical choice called repentance and the president's stated intent to pursue that course of action along with a clarion call that we citizens join him in that quest of seeking that God will extend mercy and forgiveness so that the long overdue healing of our nation will take place.
