Now then -- in regard to the Ten Commandments -- the U.S. Supreme Court might as well rule that any open display and reference to the Commandments on government property is strictly forbidden because it violates the "separation of church and state" heresy and is an endorsement of "religion!"
Consider reasons why they may as well rule in favor of eliminating reference to the Ten Commandments from public view just as God has been banished from the public classroom:
a mass formation of idols of our own making which have effectively replaced God as supreme deity -- the money god is one of the top deities on the totem pole which we as a culture have erected over past decades, especially since 1960!
the intentional profaning of the day of worship by making it a day of pleasurable pursuits, sports events, and high powered business activities -- less than half our population finds itself willing and able to make its way to a house of worship on Sunday mornings -- and even then, we may become a bit impatient during that 1 hour spent in a sanctuary, because we have so much planned for the rest of the day and the evening! The name "Sunday" on our calendars which heads the column of numbers for the first day of the week should really be changed to "Funday" since that term more accurately reflects the attitude of the majority!
the breakdown of family and disrespect for parents has reached pandemic proportions -- and in connection with this is an overall loss of respect for authority in general!
language profaning God's name is common at all age levels -- interesting, is it not, that while there are those who claim it is "offensive" to publicly display the Ten Commandments, it is not considered an offensive thing to take God's name in vain! Even government leaders can exhibit a "potty mouth" publicly and they are considered to be right in step with the moral standards this generation has established for itself!
a culture increasingly immersing itself in selfishness, dishonesty, violence, murder, and sexual immorality of the most repulsive kinds!
coveting and greed are the gutter quality level at which masses choose to live -- these include the very wealthy and powerful living in multi-million dollar mansions to citizens who are locked in to living from a limited pay check to pay check existence!
For a very small minority of persons who have truly repented of their sins (including violations of God's holy commandments) and have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, the controversy swirling about the Ten Commandments and many other issues related to the expression of the Christian faith is not surprising.
As we approach the personal return of Jesus Christ to this chaotic world Christians who seek to be obedient to Him understand that our nation and our world will duplicate the spiritual, moral, and ethical conditions which prevailed at the time of Noah prior to the judgment of the flood and at the time of Lot when he lived in a notorious city by the name of Sodom. (Luke 17:24-30).
While Christians would agree that it is appropriate to have visible reminders of the Ten Commandments everywhere, including displays on state and federal property, we also would say that having a display of the Ten Commandments on every street corner in every city and town in the country wouldn't make a particle of difference if the majority chooses to reject them as is presently the case!
There is more than an outside possibility that this republic, made up of citizens, leaders, and judges, will learn much too late that the Ten Commandments still apply to every human being. Almighty God has yet to make His response to our rejection of His standards which are absolutely necessary for the sane, stable, peaceful, and secure existence of a hopeful culture.
